Willow Class Tool Use

This half term Willow Class have been using tools in our Forest School sessions. We have been learning how to be safe while we use them and have created some really good items. Whittling was our favourite.

Whittling using knives.

Using bow saws to cut lengths of wood.

Building a tripod with a tripod lashing.

We had a wonderful opportunity to have some forest school lessons with Fran from The old Forge, right here in our school grounds. The children learnt a variety of skills such as insect, and tree identification, Natural arts and crafts and even had the chance to cook marshmallows around the fire.

The children enjoyed this experience so much that, that our key stage 1 children are continuing to explore nature and the school grounds for one afternoon every week following a Hygge inspired programmer called Wonderlust A child's nature study.
