Chairperson's Annual Report - 2016

I have been fortunate enough to have chaired the Friends for three years now and have thoroughly enjoyed watching it grow and develop.

We have had a dedicated group supporting events for several years, although a few are moving on to their next adventure.  I need to say a special thank you to Nicola who has been our Secretary this last year.  She has been amazing at keeping me organised and created fantastic posters for every event.  She has worked tirelessly and will be very much missed within the team.

As I mentioned, we are continuing to grow and change every year.  Last year we held an Auction of Promises which was a huge success raising an impressive £929.  We started film nights for the older children and again, this proved to be a great success.

Within the year we raised over £4500 which is a fantastic amount.  We ploughed £3800 straight back into where it was needed; we paid towards iPads, coach trips and fun days.  The children requested netball socks and new playground equipment, and we provided those too.

We are constantly looking towards new and exciting ideas and act upon suggestions where possible. We are holding a stargazing event in the next few weeks and hope to include an international food event within the school year.

Of course we still have our favourites such as the class bake sales, spring fayre and school discos.  We also have newer events such as the Easter Tea Party and Christmas Shopping Night which continue to evolve and really encompass or passion for enhancing the community feeling within the school.

I feel we really excelled last year even through turbulence and do have a committed and wide reaching group of volunteers who share friendship and support.

I know we need to add a few more faces into our core group and I am delighted that some parents have already approached me to discuss joining in. I look forward to the year ahead and seeing what we can achieve together.
