World Book Day
How do we celebrate World Book Day?
Each year, as well as giving out the national book vouchers, we celebrate World Book Day in different ways. In past years, this has been by recommending reads; sharing books with children from other classes; and by asking parents and teachers to share favourite stories with us. We may dress up or wear hats that represent book characters; in some years every class has read and worked on the same book; and sometimes we have had a theme such as mathematics through books. We hold competitions, enjoy book fairs, challenge ourselves in sponsored reads and pass books on through second-hand book sales.
In March 2020, we had a very special World Book Day ... we became Hogwarts for the day and the children (and staff) enjoyed moving between different classes and sampling activities linked to extracts from the Harry Potter books. We ate lunch in the Great Hall at Hogwarts house tables!
