Promoting British Values

In 2011 the government set out its ‘British values’ for life in modern Britain, these were: 


Democracy

Rule of law

Individual liberty

Mutual respect

Tolerance of those of other faiths and beliefs

At Linton-On-Ouse Primary School and Nursery these key values are discussed and celebrated in PSHE (personal, social and health education) and SMSC (spiritual, moral, social and cultural) teaching alongside being celebrated in our assemblies. When developing our wider curriculum, we have ensured that these values, in addition to our own school values, are embedded in our planning and delivery.  We ensure that opportunities are sought and utilised to enable us to promote the values.  The values are also considered and referred to in any safeguarding arrangements.
