Intent:

The National Curriculum is the foundation of our curriculum, from which we have built a broad, progressive, relevant offer. It is all of these things because we have worked in collaboration with children, parents, staff and Governors to develop our provision. We aim to utilise the strengths of our locality, using our local area for learning, school trips, and for community outreach.

We understand that there are no limits to a child's curiousity! We actively promote a questioning mind, while developing skills and understanding that challenge and inspire our students.

We recognise the vital skills of reading, writing, oracy, and numeracy, and make clear how they help children to unlock other areas of learning. We intend to give children at Linton-on-Ouse Primary School and Nursery a broad, balanced, engaging and challenging curriculum, linked to the real world. We aim to provide meaningful experiences that will give them confidence and self-esteem in preparation for their next steps in life. We aim for children to see their place in our local community and within the wider world.

Implementation:

Subject leaders support Class Teachers to ensure the curriculum builds on and revisits prior learning from Nursery to Year 6. For more information please see the individual subject pages.

Alongside the learning that takes place inside the classroom, the curriculum is further enhanced through exciting and informative trips and visitors, that connect each pupils’ learning journey on both an academic and social level.

Key threads

Reading and texts: Throughout our curriculum, learning is linked to high-quality reading texts and opportunities to explore through language. These books are shown on our overview documents and allow the children to engage with literature and the subject matters in a variety of ways.

Oracy: Oracy is a key priority within our school and regular opportunities for practising these skills are given throughout children's time at Linton-on-Ouse Primary School and Nursery. For more information on this please see the Oracy webpage.

Wellbeing: Our school is committed to the mental health and wellbeing of all in our school community. This is taught in a variety of ways, explicitly through lessons as well as through community outreach, charity support days, and interventions. Please see the Mental Health and Wellbeing page for further information.

Impact:

Linton-on-Ouse Primary School and Nursery using 'insight tracking' - a website that ensures that teacher assessment is clear, progression can be viewed easily, and outcomes are shared.

Impact is measured by assessing against objective statements as:

·       Below

·       Just Below

·       On Track

·       Greater Depth

All subjects are monitored and kept up to date by a specified subject leader. Each term, reports are created to share with school staff and governors, showing the children's progression and key development points for that subject area.

Parents are informed of their child's progress through parent-teacher meetings and written reports. Teachers will request to meet with parents should any concerns arise, aiming for the best possible outcome for the child.

Children will leave our school ready for their future education, with a love of learning, and knowing their self-worth. They will be able to identify their strengths, know how to learn effectively, and be active members of their community.
