We currently have places available throughout our school
At Linton-on-Ouse Primary School and Nursery we care a lot about protecting the planet! Our Eco Council is made up of seven enthusiastic students who help us all make greener choices. With the support of a teacher our Eco Councillors lead the way in recycling, saving energy, and keeping our school clean and green. They run fun activities and share exciting ideas to help everyone learn how to look after our world. Thanks to their hard work, we’re all working together in continuing to make our school a more eco-friendly place for everyone.
Redwood took part in the Zero Carbon Schools Programme 2023/24 which was part of the Green Schools Project.
The project involved weekly sessions to learn all about climate change around the world, closer to home, and how we as a school could help to reduce our carbon footprint.
The children explored ways in which we could reduce this and aim to be a greener school, ending in a final project we called 'Green Week'. This involved a 'walk to school' week to help reduce the use of cars, a 'switch off' campaign making sure electricity wasn't being wasted and a whole school recycling activity in which the children created bookmarks from recycled cardboard.
The children also wrote letters to our local MP Sir Alec Shelbrooke and we have now received a response which is very exciting!
Even though the project has now finished, we still aim to carry on what we learnt from the programme and think of new ways to be a greener school.
